Upon arrival to the airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

After breakfast, embark on the scenic drive to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its breathtaking limestone islands and emerald waters.

Board your cruise junk and indulge in a gourmet seafood lunch as you sail through this natural wonderland. In the afternoon, cruise around some of Halong’s many islands. Stop at an island cove with a sheltered white-sand beach and maybe take a dip in the warm waters of the Gulf of Tonkin (weather permitting).

Pass the night on your junk, lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of calm waters.

A big day of exploration awaits today on a city tour of Hanoi.

Explore attractions such as the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, Ho Chi Minh Complex (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda) and Tran Quoc Pagoda – one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for the short flight to Da Nang.

Enjoy a walking tour of atmospheric Hoi An today, visiting some of this historic cities popular highlights.

The Old Town of Hoi An is a labyrinth of well-preserved buildings adorned with intricate wooden carvings and colorful silk lanterns. Its iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, built in the 16th century, symbolizes the town’s historical connections and remains a popular landmark.

Next up, visit the Chinese Temple, also known as the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation, a cultural gem that reflects the town’s historical ties with China.

Finish your tour at the Phung Hung Old House, a well-preserved example of a traditional Vietnamese merchant’s residence, offering insight into the lifestyle and architecture of Hoi An’s prosperous past.

This afternoon, you’re free to explore more of Hoi An by yourself  or join an optional tour.

Optional tour: Golden Bridge Tour

On arrival at the foot of Ba Na Mountain, we’ll travel by cable car up to the Marseille station. Then it’s a short walk to the Golden Bridge which appears to be lifted by two “hands of the Gods”. When you’re on the bridge, you’ll feel like you’re walking on the clouds.
Time for taking photos of the breathtaking view. Afterwards, it’s on to a romantic flower garden – Le Jardin D’Amour. The 9 gardens are 9 stories in 9 unique architectural styles.
Next, it’s time to visit Linh Ung Pagoda to admire its sophisticated architecture and the 27m high Shakyamuni statue.
Finally, we’ll catch the cable car down the hill for the transfer back to Hoi An.

Enjoy a day at leisure in Hoi An, exploring the town’s charm or selecting an optional tour.

You’ll be picked up at your hotel for a 40-kilometre drive to My Son Sanctuary, a World
Heritage Site. On arrival, get ready to be absolutely astounded by the abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples constructed by the kings of the Champa era.
After, we’ll return to Hoi An for a cruise down the Thu Bon River.  Enjoy the peaceful and scenic views before stopping off at the famous traditional, Thanh Ha Pottery Village where you’ll get to see the villagers’ daily life.

This tour will let you experience many of the typical features of traditional Vietnamese cuisine and will certainly add to your cooking skills. You’ll be guided by a professional chef through every step to cook some delicious and irresistible dishes.

Optional tour: Hoi An Memories Show

As Vietnam’s largest outdoor visual art-show, Hoi An Memories is guaranteed to amaze. Featuring 500 performers and superb choreography, this open-air theatrical extravaganza tells the story of Hoi An throughout its 400 years of history while shining the spotlight on the traditional ao dai costume and the charming beauty of Vietnamese women.
Right in front of your eyes, Hoi An will transform from a small farming village to an international trading port where East meets West.

Fly to vibrant Ho Chi Minh City and embark on a city tour. First up, Notre Dame Cathedral. Situated in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City,  the cathedral stands adjacent to the Saigon Central Post Office, another architectural gem from the French colonial period.

Stop for a photo op at the Post Office before continuing on to the war Remnant Museum.

Next dive right into the colourful Ben Thanh Market, one of Ho Chi Minh’s liveliest areas.

Dinner on Saigon River Cruise offers an opportunity to witness another side of Saigon. The city is not only a bustling metropolis but also a romantic land. You will realise quickly why cruising along the Mekong Delta on a boat should be on everyone’s bucket list when travelling to Vietnam.
It is called “The Rice Bowl of Vietnam” because it offers a wide selection of cultural activities including local handcraft and coconut pressing workshops with villagers, cycling through lush rice fields along the water, as well as some down-time chilling in a hammock.
You will also be treated to an authentic lunch.
<!–Mekong Delta is known as “The Rice Bowl of Vietnam” and offers a real experience to the tropical culture of locals. This trip will take you to visit local workshops, a handicraft village and get a unique experience with local activities. Be ready to sail through the coconut trees and take a nap on a hammock in a garden filled with bird chirps and fresh breeze.
You will be picked up at your hotel then take a 1.5-hour transfer to Ben Tre River. Embark on a cruise to brickwork, a coconut processing workshop and a local village making sleep mattresses along the Mekong Delta. Continue taking a motor cart (xe loi) or cycling through the green rice fields and vegetable plains. After lunch, get back to Hung Vuong Pier for returning to Saigon.

223Discover Saigon’s nightlife on the back of a vintage Vespa scooter.
You’ll be picked up at your hotel and start off your amazing night with some cocktails and appetizers at Café Zoom. Afterwards, enjoy some of Saigon’s best authentic local food, followed by a stop at a Vietnamese-style coffee shop featuring live music. Your perfect evening will be wrapped up at an exciting music bar where local people party.ㅤ

After breakfast, head to the famed Cu Chi Tunnels, a byzantine maze of underground passages, chambers and booby traps used by both the Viet Minh and the Viet Cong during the Vietnam-US war. The tunnel system had become legendary during the 1960s as a strategic military base with underground community life.

After breakfast, enjoy some free time and maybe last minute shopping, before flying to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Spend a full day exploring the mystical Angkor temples. Start with a visit to the magnificent Angkor Wat, followed by the ancient Ta Prohm Monastery.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Thom, beginning with the South Gate and the famous Bayon Temple. Discover the Elephant Terrace and the intricately carved Leper King Terrace.

Optional tour: Tonle Sap Lake Tour

Hop on a boat to Tonle Sap Lake. All the houses here are on stilts. The tour offers breathtaking views of floodplains, rice fields and water vistas as far as the eye can see. You have a chance to take a look at crocodiles raised by a family and see how Vietnamese people live on a large lake. Then we return to the hotel for relaxing.

Start your day with breakfast before boarding your bus to Bangkok, Thailand. Enjoy the scenic drive as you leave behind the historic charm of Siem Reap and head towards the bustling metropolis of Bangkok.  The journey takes around 8 hours.

Upon arrival in Bangkok, check into your hotel and settle in.

Explore the dazzling Grand Palace consisted of several great architectures, well-preserved over many dynasties in the past. Also, visit Wat Phra Kaew, Bangkok’s most sacred temple, where the world’s most precious Emerald Buddha located.

Today, visit the former capital Ayutthaya, a historic city awarded UNESCO World Heritage status for the splendor of its archaeological ruins and temples.

Contemplate the ruins of this once vast island city including Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Phanan Choeng and Wat Mahathat.

Hop on a traditional long tail boat and observe the city’s ruins from a different perspective.

After lunch, check-in to your hotel in Phitsanulok.

Begin your day with a visit to Wat Mahathat to see the magnificent Phra Buddha Chinnarat, one of Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha images.  

Continue to Lampang and visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a stunning temple known for its impressive architecture and sacred bronze Buddha statue.  

After lunch, proceed to Chiang Mai, where you will check into your hotel and relax for the evening.

After breakfast, you visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of northern Thailand’s most sacred temples located at the top of a mountain. To reach the temple, you’ll have to climb up a 309-step staircase (or simply use cable car – included).

Later on, there’s some fun shopping at San Kamphaeng Road, a 10km-long road selling local goods such as pottery, silverware, lacquer ware, handmade paper, sculptures, jewellery, wood carvings and silk products. You can also watch the artisans at work.

After lunch at a local restaurant, return to your hotel where the   remainder of the day is at leisure.

Depart Chiang Mai for Lamphun.  Visit the magnificent, one-thousand-year-old Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Temple to see the Buddha statues and impressive stupas, which include the 46m Lanna-style golden chedi and the 21m Haripunchai-style chedi.

Continue south to visit Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which contains the ruins of the ancient capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom founded in the 13th century.

Depart to Lopburi this morning and visit Phra Pang Sam Yot, the ruins of an ancient Khmer temple, and the adjacent Brahman shrine San Phra Kan, known as the ‘Monkey Temple’. Lunch is in a local restaurant before continuing to Bangkok.

Airline Selection: We book the best available airlines for your journey, which may include a mix of full-service and low-cost carriers. Specific airline requests can be made at the time of purchase. This includes upgrades to your preferred carrier, premium economy or business class cabins or specific seats. Whilst we will try our best, not all requests can be confirmed.    

Flight Conditions: Flights may not be direct and could involve a maximum of two transits. 

Ticketing Information: Once issued, tickets are non-refundable. Changes are subject to airline rules, airline change fees, and an Asia Vacations Group change fee of $250 per person.

Passenger Details: Please ensure all traveller’s names are as per passports. This includes all middle names. Errors may incur a name change fee of $150 plus airline charges, or require the purchase of a new ticket.

Flight Schedule Changes: Any changes or cancellations to airline schedules are outside our control. We recommend staying updated with airline schedules before departure. Additional expenses for extended transits or alternative arrangements are the traveller’s responsibility.

Internal Airfares: Local flights included in your itinerary may utilise low-cost carriers without meals or entertainment. Checked baggage is included; any additional baggage fees are payable at check-in.

Booking Considerations: If travelling with others on separate bookings, we may not be able to guarantee all flights are the same due to availability.

Luggage and Fees: You are responsible for your luggage at all times. Excess baggage fees, if incurred, are payable directly to the airline. All tickets will include 20 kg checked baggage per person, plus 7 kg of hand luggage. We recommend travelling with a max 20kg per person due to restrictions on internal flights (where applicable), as well as coach and train transportation. Please note, you will be responsible for handling your luggage at all times as the services of porters are not included.

No-Show Policy: Missing your flight may result in fees including a no-show fee, airline reissue fee, and possible new ticket purchase. Asia Vacations Group charges a $250 admin fee for re-booking assistance.

Price Adjustments: Prices are final at the time of ticketing. Any subsequent changes may result in additional costs due to factors beyond our control, such as currency fluctuations or airline surcharges.

Physical Requirements
A reasonable level of fitness is required but it’s more about spending time on your feet rather than covering large distances. You’ll be getting on and off coaches and boats, walking around the sights and climbing some steps.

Tipping
A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package. Please be advised that tipping for tour guides, drivers and bellmen are required and will be collected by your travel consultant 7 days before you depart. A gratuity of 10AUD per person/day can make a big difference to locals employed in the tourism industry as they have done an impeccable job to serve you through your holiday.

Visa & Passport information
It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport. The passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the intended date of return and must have more than 2 blank pages. Visa conditions are subject to change at short notice, so it is the responsibility of the traveller to consult with the relevant consulates to ensure they have the appropriate visa for entry to the countries being visited.

Vietnam
All Australian passport holders require a visa to enter Vietnam. You should apply for your electronic visa (e-Visa) online at least 30 days prior to departure.  Please check details at https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/guest/home

Alternatively, AVG Travels can assist with obtaining your Vietnam Visa prior to your travel.

Cambodia
All Australian passport holders require a visa to enter Cambodia. You can apply for an e-Visa online or get a visa on arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, in which case you will need to pay your visa fee in USD cash. If arriving in Cambodia on an upstream Mekong River cruise (travelling from Vietnam to Cambodia) you can obtain the visa on board and your crew will assist with this process on board.

From July 2024, all travellers arriving in Cambodia need to submit an electronic e-Arrival card. Please find details https://cambodiaarrivalcard.com/

This can be completed up to 7 days before the intended arrival into the country. If arriving in Cambodia on an upstream Mekong River cruise (travelling from Vietnam to Cambodia) there is no need to complete the arrival card.

Thailand
You can get a visa exemption for up to 60 days on arrival (restricted to 2 entries per calendar year when entering by land or sea). The visa exemption is for tourism only.
