On arrival into Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL), you will be met by your guide and will be escorted to your airport hotel accommodation.

Longyearbyen
This morning, transfer to Oslo-Gardermoen Airport and fly to Longyearbyen, the polar city.
Upon arrival, you’ll be immersed in the heart of the Arctic landscapes of the Svalbard archipelago, also known as the Kingdom of the Polar Bear. This vast wilderness is home to extraordinary wildlife and stunning natural beauty.
After a bus transfer, check in to your hotel.
In the afternoon, explore Longyearbyen, the archipelago’s main town, with a 2-hour guided tour. Learn about the city’s history, from its early beginnings to the present day. The tour will take you to notable landmarks, including Longyear Valley, Hotellneset Peninsula, Adventalen Valley, and Mine 7. As you walk through picturesque streets and Arctic landscapes, you’ll have a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and imagine what it’s like to live in this remote polar city.

Today, embark on a 5-hour snowmobile safari to Elveneset (approximately 70 km, 2.5–3 hours of driving).
This route takes you through Svalbard’s pristine Arctic landscapes, offering an unforgettable wilderness experience. The journey’s moderate duration allows you to fully immerse yourself in the majestic scenery. If you’re fortunate, you might spot local wildlife, including Svalbard reindeer and possibly an Arctic fox. A light snack will be provided during the excursion. (A valid driving license is required.)
Later, enjoy a unique experience at 78 degrees North, as you head towards Advent Valley and Camp Barentz, located at the base of Breinosa Mountain. Far from the city, this is an ideal spot to take in Svalbard’s exceptional landscapes.
In the evening, your host will greet you by a cozy campfire, where you’ll savor reindeer stew – a traditional Svalbard dish.
After dinner, engage in an informative conversation about the polar bear, the King of the Arctic. Before returning to civilization, take a moment to admire the stunning, untouched landscape that surrounds you.

This morning, embark on an adventure to explore stunning ice caves aboard a Snowcat. The Snowcat will take you to the Longyear Glacier, located just south of the city. As you descend into the ice cave, you’ll enter a frozen world, where ancient, 1,000-year-old plant remains are encased in ice, surrounded by mesmerizing glacial formations, narrow passageways, and expansive caverns.
Equipped with a powerful headlamp to light the way through the narrow passages, you’ll witness the hidden beauty of the ice cave. This secluded wonder reveals a frozen landscape that offers a glimpse into Svalbard’s climatic history.
This afternoon, you will have the opportunity to go dog sledding (at an additional cost).

Optional tour: Dog sledding in Boldterdalen
Driving a dog sled during this season is an enchanting adventure. The sun casts its glow on the snow-covered Bolterdalen Mountains, their chalky white peaks shining brightly. As the dogs lead you toward Bolterdalen, you are surrounded by breathtaking and unique landscapes in every direction.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to the dog park, located about 10 kilometers outside of town. The dogs are eagerly awaiting their walk, full of energy.
You’ll be provided with thermal suits, boots, and mittens before assisting the guide in harnessing and preparing the dogs. Once the sled sets off, there is a peaceful quiet, as the dogs focus solely on pulling the sled, giving you the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning nature around you.
Longyearbyen
Oslo
After breakfast, you have until your afternoon flight to spend at your leisure.
Perhaps book onto the optional tour which will take you into a historical coal mine.
This afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your included flight back to Oslo.
On arrival, you will be met and taken to your airport hotel accommodation.

Optional tour: Exciting discovery of a coal mine
Dive into the rich history of the archipelago, exploring the lives of the miners and their life in the mountains. Mining played a crucial role in the development of Longyearbyen, as the town owes its existence to the coal mines.
You will have the chance to visit Mine 3, which operated from 1971 to 1996. This authentic mine has been preserved almost exactly as it was when it closed, allowing you to step into the past the moment you enter. The walls are steeped in history, offering a true sense of traveling back in time.
During a 3-hour guided tour, you’ll experience what life was like for a miner. Before beginning, you will be outfitted with a miner’s suit, headlamp, and helmet.

Today marks the end of your tour as you check-out from the hotel.

How to book and Payments
AVG Travels offers you a “Instalment Payment Plan”, you will be required to settle a small deposit followed by a series of instalments when you select to book your departure tour.
- First payment: You will be required to settle a $300 per person deposit online through our website link
- Second payment: You will be required to settle the second payment $2000 per person after 7 days when you receive our company invoice
- Final payment: Final payment will be collected 120 days before your departure.
However, you will have a 7-day cooling off period. Please refer to the “Flexible Cancellation” section.
Flexible Cancellation
If you change your mind within 7 days of making your booking online, you can request a refund of your initial deposit payment. Once your purchase date falls outside of the 7-day period, our standard terms and conditions will apply.

Flight Information
This is a land package only that excludes return international air tickets from Australia.
If you would like to add airfares to your booking, please select the departure city where we have the economy return flights add-on for your selection. If you would like to book the business class or premium class, please contact us anytime and our ticketing expert would assist you. Currently we use Emirates Airlines or similar.

We understand customers may wish to request changes to their included airfares. If you wish to fly with a certain airline, land at a certain time or change your flight in other ways we will gladly provide you with a personalized quote tailored to your specific requirements.

Physical Requirements
A reasonable level of fitness is required. Participants should be comfortable navigating stairs, boarding and disembarking from the coach and ship, and walking reasonable distances, typically around 2 kilometres per day or more. Please disclose any physical conditions at the time of booking to assess suitability for the tour.
Tipping
A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package.
Industry standard is USD$10-15 per person per day – however the final amount you may wish to give, is completely at your discretion.

Visa & Passport information
It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport. The passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the intended date of return and must have more than 2 blank pages.
AU Passport holders:
No visa is required to enter into Norway.

Children
Children under the age of 15 years will not be permitted to travel on this tour.

Travel insurance is recommended to protect yourself against the unexpected.
