HOT NEWS! China to extend visa-free policy to 30 days
From November 30, 2024, visa-free stays in China will be extended to 30 days, instead of the current 15, Australia and New Zealand are included in the list of nations benefiting from the unilateral visa-free policy.

According to the China Daily*, Chinese diplomacy announced the new policy on November 22, 2024. Chinese diplomacy will take the opportunity to extend the list of countries eligible for this entry facility to 38 nations and add exchange visits (type “F”) as a purpose of staying authorized without a visa.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin stated that starting from Nov 30, 2024, ordinary passport holders from 38 visa-free countries (including Australia and New Zealand) can enter China without a visa for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchange visits and transit for no more than 30 days. This hassle-free exemption will be valid until the end of 2025.

If the stay in China exceeds 30 days, can an extension be made?
If a foreign citizen intends to stay in China for more than 30 days, they should apply for a visa meeting that purpose in advance at the Chinese embassies or consulates. If there are reasonable and justifiable reasons for a longer stay than 30 days after entering China using the visa-free entry policy, an application for a temporary stay permit should be submitted to the Chinese exit and entry administration of the public security departments before the 30-day stay permit expires.
